The combined application of cryotherapy with naftalan in the complex treatment of rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic inflammatory connective tissue disorder, characterized by symmetrical progressive damage to the joints and early disability. The effectiveness of cryotherapy combined with naftalan in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with RA has been studied in this article. The study involved 70 RA patients. The patients were divided into 2 groups: People in group I received cryotherapy, massage, and therapeutic exercise (gymnastics), while group II received naftalan ointment in addition to these treatments. After the course of treatment, a significant decrease in the intensity of pain syndrome and morning stiffness (p<0.05), a decrease in the number of damaged joints, and a tendency to increase the range of motion (p<0.1) were observed. The results showed that cryotherapy and its complex application with naftalan ointment have a positive effect on clinical and laboratory indicators in patients with RA. Thus, the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of the treatment methods have been proven, and a higher effect of complex treatment has been determined.
